Fiona Reed: life coaching

Life coaching is a good idea when:

  • You perceive a gap between where you are and where you'd like to be

  • You have the motivation and energy to do something to fill the gap

Then as your coach, it is my job to:

  • Assist you to identify exactly what you want and where you'd like to be

  • Support you and give ideas and encouragement to help you get there

Life coaching deepens self-awareness. This means you can choose to live with greater clarity of vision, pursuing what you want tenaciously by agreeing significant, but practical and manageable steps towards your goals.

Life coaching differs from what a best friend, adviser, counsellor or therapist would offer, but contains elements from all these. A coach is impartial and is there specifically for you, to encourage and enable you to work on your agenda. Thus you can achieve a creative and healthy balance between all aspects of your life.

Life coaching is action based. It's practical and it can be hard work. But the key thing is you're not trying to make changes alone. Your coach is entirely on your side with no expectation or pressure on you to do anything you don't want to do, but will encourage you to move out of the familiar and comfortable into what will be more effective.

Each session will conclude with an agreement between us regarding what you will do between sessions. Examples from my clients include:

  • Think through the key milestones on the way to making a major change

  • Practise saying 'no' to an unwanted invitation

  • Plan how to deliver on targets identified in your company appraisal

  • Identify what you want out of a possible promotion

  • Clear out a room a week of a chaotic home

  • Design the ad in the paper to meet a new partner

  • Plan what you want your business to look like in three years

There is no aspect of your life that we can't talk about. If we come up against something which we can't sort out together it may be appropriate to refer you to someone else, for example, a financial advisor or counsellor.

I will use any method which seems relevant and useful from my 'kit-bag' accumulated from over 20 years of working with people who are looking to make changes to enhance satisfaction and effectiveness.

Private coaching is £80 per session and includes e-mail support between sessions. For business fees please contact Fiona directly.

Let me know if you'd like to speak to one or two of my clients about their coaching with me. I am currently coaching about 15 individuals and providing coaching for Novartis Pharmaceuticals and Scottish Widows.
